The re:Naissance Library

Hello Friends,

This is Debi Wong from re:Naissance. At reN, we’ve been thinking a lot about the rise in hate crimes and anti-Asian racism and discussing how to respond. A statement of solidarity doesn’t feel like enough and as an organization run by and engaging many Asian artists, we acutely feel the need for action and advocacy.
We’re not okay. What is happening in the world is not okay. And any act of hate, violence, discrimination against any person of colour affects all people of colour; affects us all.
We will be continuing our conversations within re:Naissance about our role in our local and global communities and how we can contribute to building and growing intercultural societies. We will share what we learn with you in our programming and in how we carry out our activities.
To the IBPOC artists we have had the privilege of collaborating and co-creating with: we see you; we lift up your pain and grief; we believe in you; we honour you; most importantly - we are accountable to you.
To our audiences: we hope you will be a part of our conversations and join us in finding new ways to lay foundations of trust and respect from which we can all outgrow racism.

With respect,
